| Description: | Primary responsibilities include the installation, acceptance, and maintenance of Syringa Networks� telecommunications equipment and services. This position requires strong background and experience in the test and turn-up of DWDM, SONET, PDH (T1/DS1, T3/DS3), and Ethernet circuits and facilities, as well as intra-office power distribution including battery plant. This position is located in West Valley, UT. |
| Duties: | Essential Job Functions:
�Installation, test, turn-up, and maintenance of PDH (DS1, DS3), SONET (OC-3 through OC-192), DWDM (40 channels, 100GHz spacing), and Ethernet (FE, GbE, and 10GbE) services and equipment;
�Installation and maintenance of transmission facilities including physical fiber optic cable and terminal equipment;
�Inspections and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, HVAC systems, and power distribution systems (including generators, high-voltage electrical systems, UPS�s, and DC power plant);
�Site restoration and maintenance, and technical support in the event of a service interruption;
�Keeps facility�s secure, orderly, and clean;
�The use and operation of telecom test sets, electronic equipment, and tools including but not limited to: fiber optic transmission equipment (OSA, OTDR), light wave multiplexing equipment, digital multiplexers, circuit termination equipment, AC and DC power equipment, and BER analyzers;
�Provide on-call (including after hours) technical and field support for diagnosing and resolving DWDM, SONET, PDH, Ethernet, and customer equipment issues;
�Provide technical support during software upgrades and database backups for critical telecom nodes and systems.

| Qualifications: | Education and Experience:
�Five years of experience (minimum) performing as a technician in a central office environment including equipment installations.
�High school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
�Associates degree in electronics (or similar discipline) is preferred.
