| Duties: | 1. Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
i. Assures campers are properly supervised at all times.
ii. Apply basic youth development principles such as relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth while working with campers.
iii. Be aware of, and implement safety guidelines.
2. Develop and implement activities for campers in accordance with the camp mission.
i. Lead and teach camp electives and activities
ii. Actively participate in all program areas as assigned
iii. Consider activities appropriate for individual and group interests and abilities.
3. Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff.
i. Provide care for each camper within your supervision, including recognition of ones own personal health needs.
ii. Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp director when appropriate.
iii. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper utilization, care, and maintenance is adhered to; report necessary repairs promptly to camp director.
iv. Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns
4. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
i. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
ii. Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, personal language, appearance, health habits, sportsmanship, and manners.
5. Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
i. Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.
ii. Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public while presenting a positive image of the camp.
WORK SCHEDULE
April 4th-June 4th evening staff training. June 4th -Aug 17th 8:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. M-F (weeks scheduled may vary)

| Qualifications: | This is an entry-level position. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher. Ability to pass a TB test and a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
� Current CPR and first-aid certificate required (training provided by the department).
� Valid driver�s license.
� A current food handler�s permit may be required in some areas.
PREFERENCES
� One year previous experience as a group counselor or staff member in a camp or other youth setting.
� The ability to:
1. Physically accompany the campers to camp activities.
2. Communicate verbally with campers and provide instructions.
3. Visually recognize hazards in the camp setting as well as physical symptoms of camper injury or illness.
4. Respond appropriately to hazards and any camper concerns.
5. Observe camper behavior in daily life. Respond verbally to health and safety concerns, and deal appropriately with any improper behavior.
