| Duties: | Job Summary
Author and maintain applications, tools and services for the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary (HDD), a terminology product that includes a reference terminology integrated from standard and legacy clinical vocabularies. The 3M HDD interacts with clinical information systems, data warehouses and electronic health records (EHR), but can also function as a standalone reference source. Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in technical design, and create and manage tasks based on systems architecture and user requirements
- Develop stand-alone, three-tier, web-based and services-based applications for maintaining and using the 3M HDD
- Use database abstraction and various persistence mechanisms in Java to support multiple database platforms
- Create cross-platform applications for windows, Linux and other operating systems
- Perform unit testing, performance testing and performance optimization

| Qualifications: | Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 3 combined years experience with Java/J2EE
- Minimum of 3 combined years experience with web services and/or web applications using Java
- Minimum of 1 combined year experience with healthcare terminologies and/or ontologies such as UMLS, SNOMED CT, LOINC, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with JBoss or other Java application servers
- Experience with the Eclipse Rich Client Platform or other rich Java front-end development platforms
- Experience in cross-platform, cross-database application development in Java
- Experience with scrum and agile software development
- Experience with software project and defect management tools and source code repositories
- Experience in application development in healthcare
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Good communication, oral presentation and writing skills
- Ability to work well within a team
- Individual initiative and responsibility for innovation
- Detail orientation and commitment to perfection
