We are looking for a Systems Engineer to develop, support and champion the next generation of platform management for our Retail.net Cloud Platform. This position designs, develops and creates solutions and documentation around monitoring, platform management, infrastructure, and cloud computing methodologies. The Systems Engineer works with staff to gather requirements and drive the development and design of our Cloud Platform architecture.

Duties include:
Performing analysis of systems and identifing problem areas, ways of enhancing existing systems, and developing viable solutions;
Coordinating with Engineering, Development and Testing, Professional Services and System Analysts to roll out and adopt the solution;
Authoring and reviewing relevant documents such as work plans, system specifications, diagrams, test plans and technical and non-technical documents for end-user support;
Ensuring compliance of PCI security standards and the following of security industry best practices;
Analyzing customer/internal systems requirements;
Authoring systemic requirements (serviceability, reliability, backup/recovery, interoperability, workflow, and use case definition);
Providing consulting services to internal and external customers;
Serving as a subject matter expert for Linux systems design, manufacturing, and integration and interoperability;
Providing service to review the final release candidate and set the stage with the cross functional teams to receive the new release once available;
Providing hardware platform design (identifing components, designing OS layout, managing standardized infrastructure components, serviceability, managing vendors, and creating system solutions and frameworks); and
Participating in a rotating 24x7 oncall coverage and Level 3 support.

The successful candidate should have the following:
Bachelor�s or Master�s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. A combination of equivalent experience and/or education is accepted;
3+ years of systems administration, design or relevant experience ideally as a Systems Engineer within the retail or banking industries;
Thorough understanding of hardware components - storage technologies, load balancing, firewalls, server class hardware, clustering solutions, virtualization (XEN) and Linux (SLES and RedHat);
An understanding of VMWare is plus;
Thorough understanding of networking principles;
Strong Shell/Perl or Ruby programming language development;
Understanding of general security architecture and design;
Understanding of source and change management;
Understanding of Java and delivery mechanisms like Tomcat and JBOSS;
Understanding of Linux build processes including ANT, �Make� an RPM builds;
Understanding of the C language;
Ablity to think holistically for any given project or problem;
Creative problem solving and aptitude for systems thinking;
Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical staff and management;
Excellent teamwork skills; and
Ability to interact with customers and play a consultant role when determining their network needs.
