Description:The Energy & Geoscience Institute (EGI) at the University of Utah is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research position in geothermal geochemistry. The successful applicant will conduct original research on water, gas and mineral interactions in geothermal systems from a variety of geologic environments. This position offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in the energy industry. The successful applicant must therefore have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Duties:Responsibilities will include numerical modeling of rock-fluid interactions; their integration with field observations and the preparation of proposals, presentations and reports.
Qualifications:Previous geochemical modeling experience is required, and experience with TOUGHREACT and/or Geochemists Workbench is preferred. A Ph.D. in geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, or related field with a strong background in thermodynamics and kinetics, as related to fluid-rock interactions is required.

The applicant should be self-motivated, able to work in a multidisciplinary environment and to effectively communicate results to a technically diverse audience. The work will support existing grants from the Department of Energy. This is a two year position with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
